STEP BY STEP HELP

Choosing a company name

Start with a Company Name Search. Existing names (as well as names of the dissolved companies) that are nearest to your choice of name will be shown in your search results. The closest matches (if there are any) are highlighted in yellow on the results page. If your choice of name is not listed, then the name is available. (If the name is already registered, please choose another name and repeat the process.)

  • If the company is listed as dissolved, then technically and legally the name is immediately available.
  • If you choose to register the name of a recently dissolved company, please consider whether your new company may be mistaken for the old one and any problems this may bring you.
  • If a name that you choose is very close to an existing company then it could be contended.

ONCE YOUR NAME IS AVAILABLE, THE REST IS EASY.

Please continue completing your application as directed by the online form.

How to claim your .ltd.uk .plc.uk domain name

Once you have formed your own Limited Company you are entitled to register a.ltd.uk domain name. After placing your domain name order we will register your domain as soon as we receive confirmation of your Company Number from Companies House.

The .ltd.uk .plc.uk domain name will belong to your Company, not to an individual.

In order to register your domain name please purchase your domain at the time of ordering your Company, then email us with the name spelled according to these rules including any hyphens. We will then enable you to use this address for email. Any emails to anyname@yourcompany.ltd.uk will be redirected to the email address you supply when purchasing your company. You may also ask for a web hosting package or, if you already have one, provide details so you can use your new domain name.

Please note there is one simple rule that must be adhered to:
Your .ltd.uk or .plc.uk domain name must be identical to your company name.
This is a legal requirement.

A hyphen is allowed where there is a space between words, but other than that there is no flexibility in the choice of name.
